In the history of Soviet pipe industry Nikopol
Yuzhnotrubny Works took a special position: along side with
it was only Pervouralsky Novotrubny Works. But priority was
given to Yuzhnotrubny one, which was the first works that mastered
new technologies, produced pipes for power system, defense and
space.
After 1991 the Works-giant suffered the fate
of many enterprises, which didn’t manage to find quickly their
bearings in a cardinally changed economic circumstances… Under
those conditions restructuring became an optimal step, as a
result of which 5 specialized joint-stock companies were established.
One of them is “Nikopol steel pipe plant “YutiSt” CJSC founded
in May of 2000 by “Steelprom” P&CE, which has been working
at the pipe market since 1991.
Today the enterprise comprises two shops –
tube rolling and tube drawing ones, a central works laboratory,
a metrology laboratory, an area of controlling instrument maintenance.
For three years a complete cycle pipe enterprise has been established
– from a billet to a ready thin-walled tube. It required equipment
modernization of tube drawing shop, increasing of production
volumes and the main thing – building of a collective capable
of working. From the means, which were assigned by “Steelprom”
P&CE into statutory fund, the Works paid off accumulated
for several years arrears of wages and started working in the
normal rhythm. The enterprise built its own boiling-house, purchased
and installed five Belgian compressors for dry compressed air
production, machines for thermoplastic production, facilities
for tube packing and marking; carried out overhaul of tube-rolling
equipment, modernized non-destructive test facilities. In the
near future the Works plans to redesign facilities for thermal
treatment in shielding medium.
“NSPP
“YutiSt” CJSC produces tubes from 12 mm to 159 mm in diameter
for high- and low-pressure boilers in accordance with TU 14-3-460-03,
TU 14-3r-55-2001 and TU 14-3-190-82; alloy-free tubes in accordance
with DIN 1629, DIN 1630, ASTM A53, DIN 2440, DIN 2441; tubes
for boiler plants and pipelines in accordance with DIN 17175,
ASTM A 106; tubes for steelwork in accordance with EN 10210
etc. Depending on assortment the Works has capacity to produce
from 14 to 16 thousand tons of steel tubes monthly. In
2003 in comparison with 2002 the production volume of a commercial
output increased by 47%. The enterprise has mastered production
of tubes in 168 mm diameter, started to produce thin-walled
rolled tubes, which are in great demand abroad. The Works has
also mastered production of drawn cracked tubes and very perspective
rolled tubes of 06X1 mark for oil industry.
Investments in quality of production were
always the first-priority at this Works, as here everybody understands
that only quality ensures growth. High quality of boiler tubes
– the main production of “YutiSt” – enables to the enterprise
to feel itself confidently not only at the Ukrainian, but also
at the world market of tubes. For a short space of time the
Works’ production has been certified in accordance with Ukrainian,
Russian and European standards. The Works has the certificate
issued by Marine Register of Ukraine that grants the right to
produce and deliver seamless tubes for shipbuilding. One of
the first in Ukraine “YutiSt” created and certified the quality
control system in accordance with ISO 9001:2000, having received
a certificate of the first-rate European auditor TUV NORD CERT.
One of the most important questions is expansion
of the markets of the Works’ production. To this field the guidance
of the investor and the marketing department of the Works pay
a special attention. The geography of supplies has been considerably
increased. The enterprise has acquired the clients in Bulgaria,
Vietnam, USA, Rumania, Turkey, Israel, India, Yemen, Lebanon,
Egypt, Lithuania, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Moldova and Belarus.
Export, the volume of which comes up to 70% of the volume of
production, allows to increase wages and realize plans of further
modernization of equipment. Intensive development of home power
engineering, agricultural machine-building, building industry
have led to the growth of the tube market, and sales volume
of tubes to the home market recently has three times increased.
“NSPP “YutiSt” CJSC takes an active part in exhibitions that
favours to expansion of markets and strengthening of relations
with consumers. The Works is a constant participant of the
International Moscow exhibition “Metal-Expo”, presents its
production at exhibitions in Belgrade, Dusseldorf, Minsk,
Ashkhabad. It participated twice in exhibitions in Iraq and
hopes to take part in its after-war restoration.
Strictly fulfilling contractual obligations on production
and supplies of tubes “YutiSt” adheres to the following principles:
compliance with normative documentation; assurance of stable
production environment; satisfaction of consumer demands,
manufacture of products corresponding to their applications;
assurance of required operating characteristics; safety and
reliability of production.
